April Anderson supports state and local permitting and community engagement for the L Street Station project. April has over 20 years of experience in government, working in leadership roles for two Massachusetts governors and in both branches of the Massachusetts legislature. In state government, she served as State Permitting Ombudsman, Assistant Secretary for Economic Development and Chief of Staff for Business Development where she led economic development policy and programs focused on supporting economic growth, expediting land use permitting, and eliminating red tape. She has also run an economic development consulting firm, working to forge productive and efficient land use relationships between private and public interests. April is active in the National Association of Industrial Office Properties (NAIOP), serving as a longtime member of the NAIOP Government Affairs Committee, and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), where she chairs the Infrastructure Task Force. She is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute and was recipient of ULI’s “Rising Star” award in 2016 for her engagement and leadership in ULI Advisory Services.
